For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will engage sixth and seventh grade students of the Government Higher Primary School, in Moodambail village in Dakshina Kannada district in a project titled Chiv Chiv Hakkiyuu mattu Haaruva Chitteyu (Hums of Birds and Flying Butterflies). They will learn and document the names of birds, reptiles, and plants in their local dialect in an attempt to bridge their curriculum of science, language and social science. The outcomes of the project will be an illustrated dictionary, a series of performances, an exhibition and a publication. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be the dictionary, the publication and photographs and video documentation of the entire project including the performance and exhibition. Project funds will pay for workshop, travel, performance, contract fees, publication and stationery.
For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will engage eighth grade students at the Government Girls Pre-University College, High School Section, in Guledgudda, Bagalkot district in a project titled Maggada Maatu (Voices of the Loom). It will document the process of making and issues related to Ilkal sarees from the region, by connecting them to their curriculum in language and science. Through this project students will become community researchers recording the legacy of their local handloom industry. The outcomes of the project will be an exhibition and a publication. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will be the publication, and photographs and video documentation of the entire project including the exhibition. Project funds will pay for printing, workshop, stationery and materials, travel, contract fees, exhibition and documentation.
For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will engage eighth grade students at the Government Girls Pre-University College, High School Section in Badami, Bagalkot district in a project titled Kappe Arabhatta Yaaru? (Who is Kappe Arabhatta?). The project will document and critically examine stone inscriptions in and around the region with a special focus on Kappe Arabhatta, an 8th century Chalukya warrior mentioned in the inscriptions. Through this project students will become researchers recording their local history and enrich their study of social science, and Kannada language curriculum. The outcomes of the project will be a performance and a publication. For the implementation of a Foundation Project with IFA that will engage eighth grade students of the Government High School in Tarafile village, Kalaburagi district with the historic Khwaja Banda Nawaz Dargah by connecting it to their curriculum in social science and languages. Students will explore the Urs celebrations at the Dargah with its sandal procession and Qawwali music performance. The outcome of this project will be a performance and a publication. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will engage eight grade students of the Government High School in Hosahundi village, Mysore district with Interactive Theatre practice and its applications by encouraging them to build arguments and dialogues around themes and ideas based on their school curriculum. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will engage fifth, sixth, and seventh grade students of Government Higher Primary School in Kalkere village, Hassan district with the traditional practice of tingalu mavana habba – a celebration of the rain gods - by connecting it to their curriculum in social science, mathematics, and languages. Students will explore songs and stories based on this practice, while creating their own. The outcome of this project will be a series of performances. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that will engage fifth, sixth, and seventh grade students of the Government Higher Primary School in Yadavagiri, Mysore district with the stories and traditional practices of a local rag picker community and a migrant community located near the school. Students will understand and document stories and traditional practices of these communities through the Hejjemela folk dance form, and connect it to their mathematics and language curriculum. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that engages eighth grade students of the Government High School in Baganakatte, Shivamogga district in an in-depth study of stone inscriptions in Shivamogga. They will develop a short theatre script based on the local stories found on these inscriptions by connecting them to their Kannada language curriculum. The outcome of the project will be a performance in the presence of school staff and villagers. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that engages students from fifth and sixth grade of the Government Higher Primary School in Avverahalli, Ramanagara district to explore the flora and fauna of the seven hills around Ramanagara. They will do this through a series of hiking expeditions and engagements with visual arts, theatre and storytelling, which connect to their geography, science and language curricula. Curriculum-based outdoor learning pedagogy will provide firsthand experiences in a natural learning environment. The outcomes of this project will be a performance and an exhibition for school staff and community members, and a publication containing the children’s writings. For the implementation of a Foundation Project by IFA that engages sixth and seventh grade students of the Government Model High Primary School in Maalavi village in Vijayanagara district, in Nammade Bank Nammade Duddu (Our Bank Our Money)— a study of the banking system in India. Children will learn about the history, structures, systems and malpractices of banks by running their own bank and linking their learning to their mathematics curriculum. The outcomes of the project will be a performance in the presence of school staff and villagers and a publication. The Project Coordinator’s deliverables to IFA with the final report will include the publication, along with photographs and video documentation of the performance and the entire project. Project funds will pay for honorarium, workshop, travel, professional fees, publication, documentation and performance.
