Project Showcase@IFA with Arivu Vidhya Samsthe and Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya | January 10-11, 2026 | Davanagere

IFA is delighted to present the works of two schools under our Arts Education programme, Kali Kalisu, in Davanagere, Karnataka. This programme aims to make learning a continuous process for students by integrating artistic mediums into classroom teaching. It seeks to promote art-integrated practices in school education, encourage teachers to incorporate local resources into school curricula, and foster a student-centred, creative learning environment in schools.
Under the programme, we facilitate arts-integrated projects in schools across India. Two such schools, Arivu Vidhya Samsthe in Mysuru and Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya in Dharwad, have been involved in projects with their students. Arivu conducted an art-integrated educational experiment titled Malgudiyalondu Maneya Mahadi (Building a House in Malgudi) to introduce to students two great local literary figures—RK Narayan and his brother RK Laxman—along with opportunities to analyse, study, and perform based on their literature and cartoons. Kalkeri, on the other hand, introduced its students to the musical instruments made in Miraj, Maharashtra. The project combined students’ interest in music with the craft of instrument-making, enabling them to study both the skills of crafting instruments and the art of playing them.
The event will see two performances from students of the schools, discussions with them, and workshops for local students of Davanagere to promote the arts as a key pedagogical approach, nurturing creativity and imagination among children.

Arivu Vidhya Samsthe, run by Arivu Education and Cultural Trust in Mysuru, Karnataka, is a shared endeavour of a group of parents, teachers, students, and citizens to explore the possibilities of a better education system, a sustainable lifestyle, and a culture of respect, joy, and pride. The school also hosts a community resource center and a butterfly park in an environmentally friendly campus. Students at Arivu learn through direct experience, experimentation, model making, visiting historical and natural places, observing birds and plants, discussing, playing, and many other activities.
Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya (KSV) in Kalkeri village, Dharwad, Karnataka, provides education in academic subjects, Hindustani classical music, Kathak dance, and drama to children from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Founded in 2002, KSV combines both traditional and modern approaches to pedagogy through their training of Indian classical arts, as well as teaching the Karnataka State syllabus.
