Our latest publication is Painters, Poets, Performers: The Patuas of Bengal, 2017, on the history and evolution of ‘Patachitra’–literally, ‘painting on cloth or scrolls’–in Bengal. This visually rich and informative book provides an overview of the narrative tradition of pictorial storytelling and its talented, polymath makers.

Embroidering Futures: The repurposing of Kantha (2012)
In 2012, we published Embroidering Futures: The repurposing of kantha, documenting how kantha has travelled from humble homes where they were made and used as repurposed duvets and bed linen to shops and boutiques where they are sold as expensive works of art today. This book traces this journey of kantha from its origins to its current avatar, through the tales and recollections of collectors, inheritors, designers and producers of this unique piece of embroidered cloth.
