Suman manages the Museum and Archival Fellowships at IFA.
Suman is an independent curator and is also one of the founders of CoLab Art & Architecture, Bangalore, India (2005).
Suman was born and educated in Bangalore. She worked as an editor at Macmillan India Ltd. for four years, and later managed Sakshi Gallery, Bangalore, a gallery for contemporary art. She studied Fine Arts Administration and Curating at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, UK in 1999, after which she began working as an independent curator.
Selected recent projects Suman has co-curated include : Nasreen Mohamedi, Tate Liverpool, UK, 2014; Jogja Biennale XI – Shadow Lines: Indonesia meets India, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2011-2012); Practices in Contemporary Art & Architecture with the Goethe Institute, Bangalore; Nasreen Mohamedi : Notes / Reflections on Indian Modernism (2009 – 2011) - this exhibition travelled to six countries in Europe and the UK.
Suman has written texts for exhibition catalogues and contributed to art journals like Afterall, Art Review and Flash Art.
